David Pellicer began his optics career on the floor of his grandpa’s eyeglass factory in Barcelona as a teenager. Fulgencio Ramo built his first factory just before the Spanish civil war, the depression, and the World Wars. David rose to the challenge maintaining the family company, creating his own brand, and now on our list of the best indie designers working today. In 2020, Etnia released David’s take on Bowie’s favorite sunglasses with a very exclusive collectable tribute series. He frequently supports and collaborates with artists from Yves Klein and Araki, to Jean-Michel Basquiat through his #Beanartist foundation.
