Polarized Lenses

When you live in Las Vegas and need an optometrist for eye care, eyeglasses, or children's eye exams, you can count on Eyes & Optics to provide the services you require. In a place as sunny as Las Vegas, wearing sunglasses and polarized lenses is a necessity to protect your eyes.

When you are going to be out in the sun, UV rays are a danger. Some of them are more dangerous than others, but all of them should be kept away from your eyes. When you are going to be out and about in the desert or on Lake Meade, you need to add one other thing to your UV 400 sunglasses: polarized lenses. Polarized lenses cut down the glare that can affect your ability to see clearly even under the most adverse conditions.

What are polarized lenses?

Polarized lenses are sunglasses that have a special coating on them, which works to prevent some light from coming through the lens. It works similarly to blinds, only allowing light that you can see to come through. Vertical openings for light are created, and only rays of light that come at your eyes in a vertical way can fit through the openings. All the horizontal waves that are bouncing around will not get into your eyes. Because of this, what you see will be darker than you are used to but will also be crisper and clearer.

Polarized lenses are great for playing golf, fishing, boating, and being out in the snow. There are times, however, when they may not be the best option. They are not the best for looking at LCD screens. If you are in the car, you may not be able to see the dashboard well.
